Back and exhausted

Milano_3_kl It's after midnight and I am back from my brilliant Italy weekend. Got a sunburn, so it was utterly successful. :)

Just letting you know that I am starting a new job on Tuesday, which will leave me more time for fun stuff - including serious marketing-related blogging. So stop on by again this week to see what I come up with?

Off for the weekend!

IStock_000003545584Small Okay, I am off to visit my brother in Milano, Italy. 32°C, so I am packing my bikini! Well, not really, since that will require another 12 months of dieting... but you get the point.

I will hopefully return with beautiful pictures and loads of inspiration...

So see you Monday!

Did ya know...

...that visitors to Etsy view an average of 18 pages when they are there? More than 70% of all visitors are coming from the States, by the way, and only 1,8% from Germany.

And their page views and visitors are constantly rising, so that should be good news. :)

Yessssssssssssss!!!

Finally - I found the main supplier of an Etsy seller that I was flagging. I was able to have her first shop deleted, and I will get her second one closed as well. How do I know it is the same person? Well, she obviously takes new pictures of herself in the dresses that she sells.

With her last shop, it was "vintage", this time it is supposedly handmade. I HATE that kind of thing!

Ever wonder where those so-called "Mod" Korean-style dresses were coming from? Visit here.

If her shop is still not closed end of the week, I will publicly call her out... But let's give Etsy some time to clean up their own site.

Update 7-1-08

Good boys... the shop is closed. Flagging works! At least if you do a lot of scutwork...

Soccer in Europe

Mama_1 Some of you might not be aware of it, but the European championship is currently being held in Switzerland and Austria. I am not much for soccer, except when we are talking European or World championship.

We are missing some of that gorgeous weather we had 2 years ago, which is why I still haven't been to one of the public viewings, but it is still great fun to watch with friends or even home alone.

But... the team that my heart belongs to lost last night. The Netherlands had such a great run so far, but their performance against Russia was embarrassing. So now I am back to cheering for Germany, I guess.

Our next game will be tough - we are playing Turkey. Which is like playing against a brother... we have more people from Turkish descent living in Germany than any other country worldwide. I know that things will be okay if Germany wins, but might get ugly if Turkey beats us.

What does that say about my country?

Just give me two weeks...

... to be back to blogging about meaningful, Etsy-related stuff. And to finally list new things again in my own shop. And possibly start listing my glass pendants.

I am counting the hours - on Tuesday, I will have my last day at my current job. Then I will need to get over to Ikea and buy a desk, chair, bed.... stuff... and have it delievered while I am home that week. I will probably break some nails while unpacking all that furniture, but hey. Then go to Milano to visit my brother. And then... I will finally start working from home on Tuesday, July 1st!

So as of July 1st, I will finally have some more time... which I crave something fierce right now!

If you haven't considered a new camera yet...

I just got back from watching football/ soccer at my best friend's place... great game, by the way, Netherlands won 4:1 from France. Which makes me happy, since I feel kinda Dutch within.

She also got a new cat last week, so I got to play with Juri (that's his name.) Well, with Juri and my camera, a Canon 300D Digital Rebel.

Honestly, if you haven't yet considered getting a digital SLR, do so... Mine was second-hand and therefore not much more expensive than a new compact camera... but the photos are so sharp, detailed, and amazing - it is worth the investment.

I won't post the original sizes here, since I just know that the images will end up on someone's shirt, mug, print or whatever - but please see some great shots below, plus one detailed view of just his eyes.

These are just spontaneous shots, me lying on the floor, taking advantage of the morning light coming into the window and the shadows that created...

More time for crafting! New job!

IStock_000002318398XSmall It is official... I will be changing jobs as of July 1st. It had been in the pipeline for a while, I just didn't expect everything to move so fast now.

Got the call this morning to quit immediately, since they needed me within two weeks. Ooooookay. :)

Though I will be under contract with a Dutch company (one that I have worked for before), I will be staying in beautiful Hamburg, setting up home office in my apartment. Which obviously has its drawbacks - no colleagues, home alone all day.

But you know what? I save 15 hours a week! Just by not traveling, shorter lunch break and being able to do the wash during my break, for example. Can you imagine all the craft time that buys me?

And I love the company, the product - so it really is a win-win situation.

Flickr works!

26a2 I always place  images in my Flickr, obviously posting to my Plush Team street team and usually some other toy-related or sock critter groups.

Well. Looks someone saw one of my sock dogs. And got in touch with me. And now?

It will be included in an article! In a magazine! In Canada! I'm so excited... :)

So look for the Shared Vision July edition in Canada or the Vancouver area - I will definitely post a scan once I get my copy...

P.S: When using Flickr, make sure you do not mention Etsy in your image descriptions. I only have Etsy in my profile - otherwise they will probably delete your account.

Subscribers

Ha, just checked my FeedBurner - and 80 people are subscribing to this blog! I am flattered. :)

I also find the ups and downs in stats funny to see. I know that my views are way up when I am ctive in the forums and post links to helpful articles.

Are you cross with me for posting so much irrelevant stuff lately? I am definitely writing less on Etsy marketing, but I do have some articles in the pipeline. It sometimes just seems that I have written so much on Etsy already, that I am not always sure what else is missing.

I need your input here!
